December 11, 2020
Dear CUSD 201 Families,
Monday, December 14, we begin the last week of the semester. Thank you for your patience and continued support of CUSD 201. The school year has been very challenging. Despite these challenges, we have continued to meet our students’ needs through the entire school community’s collective efforts.
The DuPage County Health Department posted the DCHD School Metrics Week 48. There are four metrics at the substantial level of transmission but are trending in the right direction. Next week’s metrics will show whether or not DuPage County is seeing a surge due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. The immediate area’s seven-day positivity rate is Westmont -7.53%, Hinsdale - 6.52%, Downers Grove - 6.74%, and Clarendon Hills -10.14%.
Next week, the District will resume small groups on December 15 and 17. You will receive additional information from your child’s school. Here is a link to a calendar that will make it easier for parents to visualize the next several weeks of the school year. Calendar for November 16 through January 19
The target date to resume hybrid learning is January 19. This date is dependent on the level of COVID-19 transmission. Hopefully, everyone will be practicing the Illinois Department of Public Health’s mitigation strategies to help slow the virus’s spread. The schools surveyed the parents to determine how many families wanted hybrid learning versus remote learning for their students. The table below has the survey results.
School | %Hybrid | %Remote |
---|---|---|
Miller | 77 | 23 |
Manning | 70.2 | 29.2 |
Westmont Jr High | 51 | 49 |
Westmont High School | 67 | 33 |
CUSD 201 is resuming our strategic planning process. Some parents had difficulty opening the survey. The error is corrected. Please take a few moments to complete a survey using one of the following links: Strategic Plan Survey (English Version) or Strategic Plan Survey (Spanish Version). The information from the survey will inform the strategic planning process. When completing the survey, please use a pre-COVID-19 lens.
Please read the entire communication for additional updates.
Hybrid Learning-Suspended
The District is suspending hybrid learning until January 19, 2021.
Remote Learning
Remote learning is continuing the week of December 14, 2020. Schools will have small groups attend on Tuesday and Thursday. Please use this link to view the plan.
If you or your student is having difficulty accessing the learning materials or have any questions, we have a hotline for you to use. Please use the following number:
630-468-8020 for English speakers

Quarantine Information
The CDC has changed the number of days individuals are required to quarantine depending upon whether they test negative or are asymptomatic. The IDPH has not signed off on the new quarantine protocols. Our attorneys have advised the school district to continue to follow the IDPH guidelines.
The CUSD 201 COVID Update Center site has the current information about quarantining, testing, and other COVID-19 related concerns.
MEAL DISTRIBUTION FOR THE WEEK OF December 14, 2020

The COVID-19 vaccine news is the ray of light at the end of the tunnel we all need. It will be several months before the vaccine is administered to the number of adults to create the herd immunity required. In the meantime, we all need to continue to wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash our hands.
Take care,
Kevin Carey
Superintendent
