October 16, 2020
Dear CUSD 201 Families,
The number of cases of COVID-19 has been increasing statewide and in DuPage County. At the time the District decided to transition to Hybrid, the decision was made using the DCHD Return to School Framework. DuPage County has been at a moderate level of transmission for several weeks, and this level of virus transmission is safe to have in-person learning as long as strict guidelines are in place.
On Friday, the DuPage County Health Department had a Zoom meeting with school superintendents. The DCHD said that with the current surge in new cases of COVID-19, the county would very likely move into the substantial transmission level. The DCHD will finalize the data and release it publicly on Monday, October 19.
If DCHD does post that the County is at a substantial transmission level on Monday, CUSD 201 will follow the DCHD Return to School Framework and pivot back to remote learning for all students starting on Monday, October 26. The District will remain in remote learning for a minimum of two weeks. Hopefully, after two weeks, the transmission level will return to moderate.
Once the DCHD updates the school metrics on Monday, the District will communicate to parents what the schools’ status will be for the week of October 26.
Please read the entire communication for additional updates.
