September 25, 2020
Dear CUSD 201 Families,
I hope this communication finds you and your family well. At the September 22 Board of Education Meeting, the Board approved the District’s plan to transition to a Hybrid Learning Model. The District is on track to transition to hybrid learning on Monday, October 5, 2020.
Please keep in mind that this is a very fluid situation. If the District needs to change course, the District will notify you as soon as the decision is made. To plan and prepare for the transition to remote learning, Friday, October 2, will be a planning day for the staff. No remote learning will take place.
The District has updated the Hybrid Learning Plan. Here is a link to the plan (CUSD 201 Hybrid Learning Plan). In addition, each of the schools will be sending out additional information to school families.
Included in the plan is information about what hybrid learning will look like in each of the schools. There is information on what to expect if there is a positive case of COVID-19 in your child’s school or what you should do if your child or a family member tests positive for COVID-19. You can find information on these and similar situations in the Illness Guidance section of the document.
At the end of the document is the Frequently Asked Questions section. We will update this section regularly. Here you will find answers to questions such as the District’s criteria to determine the need to pivot to remote learning.
In our schools, face masks and social distancing will be required. One of our nurses, Colleen Alexander, made a short video to demonstrate the proper way to wash our hands and wear masks. Please share the video with your students. Handwashing and Wearing a Mask
Please read the entire communication for additional updates.

Meals are available free of charge to CUSD 201 families for children 18 and younger.
Parents will be given five days’ worth of breakfast and lunch. Please use the drive off Oakwood in front of the Junior High School. You do not need to exit your car; the food will be brought to you. If you are unable to come to the Junior High at the designated time, please call 630-468-8121.
Be Prepared
Please know that in dealing with a pandemic, it is a very fluid situation. If the District needs to pivot to remote learning we hope to provide you with sufficient lead time. If it is due to increasing positivity rate or the number of cases per 100,000, we plan to provide you with a one week notice. There may be other situations in which we can only provide families with 24-hour notice. Our families always need to have a plan B in the event the District needs to pivot to remote learning quickly.
Take care,
Kevin Carey
