August 14, 2020
Dear CUSD 201 Families,
As previously announced, CUSD 201 made the difficult decision to begin the school year remotely. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) issued additional guidelines to school districts on July 23rd that outlined what is required for in-person learning and remote learning. The enhanced learning requirements put into question the District’s ability to provide both learning opportunities and meet the state requirements. On August 12, 2020, the ISBE released updated guidance in the form of a question and answer document that contained new information that will cause the District to make additional adjustments.
This has been the pattern since last spring; the ISBE shares information that impacts the district's decision making as we are trying to make plans that ultimately will impact our students, families, and staff. The decision to start the year with remote learning was not an easy decision nor what any of us want. We all want our students to be in school.
The District will continue to work within the guidelines provided by the ISBE, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the DuPage County Public Health Department to reach our ultimate goal, a return to in-person learning.
Please read the entire communication for additional updates.
Remote Learning
CUSD 201 has finalized the remote learning plan for each school. Schools will be providing greater details to parents as the staff develop their plans for their classrooms. The remote learning plan is more rigorous and has greater accountability than last spring. Please use this link to view the plan.
The schools will be providing additional information to parents regarding pick up of materials and Chromebooks if needed.
If you or your student is having difficulty accessing learning materials, or if you have any questions, we have a hotline in place for you to use. Please use the following number:
630-468-8020 for English speakers
630-468-8030 for Spanish speakers.
Meals for CUSD 201 Students
CUSD 201 will provide meals to CUSD 201 students as we did last spring. Last spring, the ISBE provided a waiver so that the school district could provide meals to any child. The ISBE did not extend the waiver, and now meals can only be provided to students who are registered in the district.
To account for this new restriction, the process for meal distribution has changed. Please this link for additional information on the meal distribution.
Food will still be distributed at Westmont Junior HIgh School at 944 Oakwood Drive. Meal distribution will begin on Thursday, August 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support. As more information becomes available, you will be updated. The pandemic has tested our school community in ways we could never imagine. Together we will meet this newest challenge and any future challenges. Regardless if the district is teaching remotely or in-person, our top priority is the same; to provide every child with a high-quality educational experience.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
