Standards Based Grading
Over the past five years, our district has explored best practices when communicating student progress. In the 2017-2018 school year, CUSD201 created a committee of parents, teachers, and administrators to include all stakeholders in the conversations. Together, we looked at ways we can better communicate student progress to the Illinois state learning standards in kindergarten through 5th grade.
Now in our 3rd year of implementation, we look forward to using OTUS, our learning management system, to provide ongoing communication of student learning with the standards that we are assessing throughout the year.
Below are some resources that can help families to understand the best practices with grading. Many of these shifts require a mindshift of the adults, as we often connect to the experiences that we had while in school.
