Holly Forsyth
Social Worker
Hello Panther students and families!
I am so excited to begin my first year as the social worker at Westmont Junior High School. Although this is my first year at WJHS, it is my fifteenth year as a school social worker. After graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, I worked in the child welfare field for a few years before returning to Aurora University for my Master's in Social Work with a specialization in school social work. Prior to coming to WJHS I had worked for fourteen years with junior high school students in an alternative setting in the southwestern suburbs.
School social workers work with students in both general and special education to problem solve and improve on any social, emotional and behavior issues that may be impeding learning or development. Services may be direct in individual, group or classroom settings, may include indirect consultation with staff or referrals to resources in the community. I am very much looking forward to supporting the students and families at WJHS. I work closely with the teachers, administrators and other staff to best meet the needs of our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
